Kay L. Henning
Saturday, February 18, 2012
Kay L. Henning, 73, Patton Road, Brockway, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born March 19, 1938, in Salamanca, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Olive L. Dunbar Velie Sr. of Little Valley, N.Y.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and her grandchildren.
She was a housewife.
Kay survived polio when she was 11 and spent 11 months in an iron lung. Her horse flipped over on her at age 14 and she lost a kidney. At 18, she had a horrible car accident and spent six months in a coma. About 15 years ago, she had a large brain tumor removed which probably was a result of her many serious injuries.
"The day before she passed away, I talked to her in the hospital and she sounded quite normal. She still referred to me as 'Tippy-Toes,' even though I'm 67 years old. I will miss her and remember the good times we had growing up." Love from your brothers Allen and Bill.
She is survived by a son, Kent W. Kuhaneck of Clarence; a daughter, Brenda Jean Williams of Brockway; two brothers, Kenneth Allen Velie of Lancaste, N.Y., and William James Velie of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. of Brockway. On-line condolences may be made at www.csfhinc.com
