The United States is not the world's policeman.

Then why are gonzo senators (McCain, Lieberman) talking about having the United States send arms to the Syrians now fighting against the ruling regime?

These are Syrians. They arm Hezbollah. They aid Hamas. They tried to build their own nuclear weapon a decade and more ago. They abetted the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. They sheltered Al Qaeda and other forces who killed Americans in Iraq.

Our simplistic, sometimes stupid leaders see every opponent of a brutal dictator as shining knights in armor.

It is possible to have two or more "sides" in a battle - and both of them are bad. See "Huns vs. Visigoths."

Weapons shipped into Syria today will be used to kill Americans tomorrow.

What is happening in Syria today is a huge problem - for the Syrians. It is causing problems - for the neighboring Turks.

It is not our problem. We have no business getting involved militarily, even in "support."
