Sojourn

APPROXIMATELY 60 KAYAKS and canoes made their way down Red Bank Creek last Friday, from Heathville to Hawthorn, as part of the 20th Annual Alle-Kiski-Connie Rivers Sojourn. The four-day sojourn, organized by the Armstrong Center for Community Learning and the Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center, incorporated Red Bank Creek for the first time this year. Participants also took part in a historical program about the Fishbasket Indian village in the Redbank Valley conducted by local historian Ken Burkett. Organizers said participants loved the Red Bank section for its scenery and eagle spotting.
